As librarian I seek to foster in the students a love of reading, for pleasure as well as for an assignment. I want students to feel confident in using the library independently as well as to be able to find what they want in this library or in any other library they use. This is accomplished through instruction in library and research skills and exposure to various types of literature.
K-1 students may have one book checked out at a time, which is due in one week. 2-6 grade students may have two books checked out at a time, which are due in two weeks. All students may exchange their library books any night after school.
1st Lines…
Each Monday morning the first line from a children's book will be posted on the bulletin board outside the library and given to each classroom. If a student or staff member recognizes the first line, submit the answer in the fish bowl on the book return in the library. Each Friday afternoon a name from the winning guesses will be drawn for a prize. Have fun recalling the books these first lines are from.
